Welcome back, lovers of LoCo music!
(Oh, in case you didn't know, "LoCo" is short for Longmont, Colorado. You probably knew that, but we don't want anyone to feel left out or uncool. You're very cool!)
Annnyyywayyy....
We're back with another installment of new music releases from Longmont's musical creators. Let's get to it!
As always, we include genres just to give you a vague sense of what to expect, but we also recognize that such small-minded attempts to contain complex music within a box of words will always fail.
Ghosts in the BRoadcast by Travel Plans
Artist: Travel Plans
Title: Ghosts in the Broadcast
Genre: Instrumental, Chill, Shoegaze
Release Date: February 27, 2026
Highlight: "Ghosts in the Broadcast"
50-word review: Whether you’re swirling indolently in your hippie skirt or nodding your head with brim pulled low, you’ll find something to love in the latest release from prolific Longmont artists Travel Plans. We’ve had the hypnotically addictive track on repeat for a while to amp us up and calm us down.
FAWM 2026 by Austin Ash Lemon
Artist: Austin Ash Lemon
Title: FAWM 2026
Genre: Instrumental, Chill, Shoegaze
Release Date: February 28, 2026
Highlight: "Dying of the Light"
50-word review: Three gorgeous demos from the iconoclastic musical polymath behind The Odd Ditties, this collection showcases the darker, deeper side of a true original. Some of the twee arrangements might tempt you to smirk, but the lyrics will remind you that this shit is deadly serious. Find your new favorite song.
Songs of Jerry Mars by Jerry Mars
Artist: Jerry Mars
Title: Songs of Jerry Mars
Genre: Experimental, Noise
Release Date: March 26, 2026
Highlight: "A Saint Like You"
50-word review: A singer-songwriter more influenced by Damon Albarn than Woody Guthrie, Jerry Mars shares four tracks of poppy, swaggery, croony pop absinthe that will leave you high and blissful. With nods to Jacques Brel and Kurt Weill, these songs reward repeated listens with some gorgeous guitar flourishes and hidden lyrical gems.
Bang Bang by 1213
Artist: 1213
Title: Bang Bang
Genre: Noise, Experimental, Punk, Doom, Goth, Industrial
Release Date: April 7, 2026
Highlight: "Everything Is Gonna Be Fine...?"
50-word review: Alternatingly grating and graceful, melancholic and manic, this album isn’t so much a cohesive artistic statement as a statement of artistic multiplicity, like a tetradecagon of unfiltered expression. There’s even a cover of Joy Division’s “Transmission,” revealing one of 1213’s many influences. If you listen closely, you might go mad.
When you buy music from local artists, you make our Longmont music scene healthier, more resilient, and stronger. Do it!
And, of course, we'll see you in the front row!
