Your Longmont live music weekend plans, sorted

Are we the only ones who think that Tuesday is an excellent time to start thinking about your weekend plans?


We're betting not.


In fact, we're pretty sure there are thousands of Longmonters wondering what the heck they're gonna do with themselves this weekend and how they're gonna get their fix of local live music. Here are just a couple of the shows we think are worth your time and money this weekend! Of course, you can always find our complete listing of Longmont live music happenings on our calendar.


Thursday, May 14th:

Queso Ra and Travis McNamara at the Times Collaborative


Part of the (mostly acoustic) Soundpost Sessions Spotlight music series. This is Queso Ra's last Longmont hur-Ra for a while, so catch 'em while you can. You might recognize Lyons-based singer-songwriter Travis McNamara from his star days in award-winning Colorado indie bluegrass outfit Trout Steak Revival. Tickets are $18 in advance, $20 at the door.



Saturday, May 16th:

MONKEYPAW, Diva Cup, and Cheap Perfume at 801 Main Street


Longmont is earning a reputation for great punk shows in unexpected places (the backyard of a taqueria, an electronics repair shop, the gymnasium in the Memorial Building at Roosevelt Park), and this show continues that new tradition with a lineup of three phenomenal local punk bands: Longmont's own MONKEYPAW, Boulder's Diva Cup, and Colorado Springs/Denver's Cheap Perfume. The venue is 801 Main Street, which is the former home of a thrift store and the future home of Recovery Café Longmont, but it's a few months away from opening, and the organization has made it available for this all-ages, sober show. Tickets are $18, plus a $2.19 fee to cover costs. By the way, Diva Cup just announced they're parting ways, so this might be your last chance to catch them!



Of course, there's tons more happening, including The Delta Sonics at Bricks, 5-Foot Betty at the Longmonter, Madeline Hawthorne at Wibby, and more.
