Once again, there's plenty of live music happening in Longmont this week, and we're getting the news out a little later than usual.
Of course, if you don't want to wait around for us, you can always check out the live music calendar on our home page. It's the only events calendar dedicated to live music in Longmont.
While we counted many shows happening, we're going to highlight just a couple that stand out to us. Both of them are on Saturday, so you might have to make Sophie's choice -- or find a way to be in two places at once (which is a skill we'd like to learn).
A quick note: While we normally like to highlight original live music in Longmont, we can't always tell what a given artist is going to do, so it's possible that the shows below will include some covers.

Up first, it's the second annual reggae festival at Bootstrap Brewing. Stake out your spot on the dance floor for six (6!) bands playing from 12pm to 9pm. According to the kind folks at Bootstrap, the production schedule looks like this:
1:15-2:15 Coloradix (reggae, rock steady, ska)
2:30-3:30 Irie Echoes (reggae)
3:45-4:45 The Syrup (R&B, roots reggae, soul, hip-hop)
5-6 Inside the Mind (reggae fusion)
6:15-7:15 Skankin' Nation (reggae covers)
7:30-9 Smoke-Signals (roots reggae)
The Bootstrap Brewing calendar doesn't indicate a cover charge.

Next up, it's a benefit concert for the Recovery Cafe. We know -- it's another singer-songwriter show -- but because it benefits this awesome organization, we think it's worth paying attention to. The show will feature Marilyn Walker, Karen Horan, and Robby Layton, playing from 4 to 5:30pm at the Central Longmont Presbyterian Church (402 Kimbark St). This show is being produced by Connected by Music, a Boulder-based nonprofit "dedicated to using the power of music to support a connected, sustainable society and planet." We can dig that.

As always, if you think our calendar is missing a particular cool show, just give us a shout!
