The first Tuesday in February is coming right up. Not only is it the suspense-filled day in which we wait to see if Punxsutawney Phil and/or Bill Murray sees his shadow, but it's also the day when downtown Longmont fills up with live music at the Winter Walkabout Music Showcase.
Since 2019, the Longmont Downtown Development Authority and the Longmont Creative District have presented a full day of local live music in multiple venues throughout downtown Longmont.
The festival -which focuses on the acoustic/Americana/folk corner of our vibrant community- has become a scintillating centerpiece of our beautiful city's music scene. This year will see 60 different performances in 16 venues. Holy crap, that's a lot of music in one day!
If you're just getting your sea legs in Longmont's music scene, this is a fabulous chance to check out a bunch of different artists and then pick 1 or 5 or 10 that you want to support by buying their music and merch and seeing them live again. It's like a crash course in a small part of our diverse music community.

Whenever we go to a festival, we find the printed schedule insufficient to our needs, and we're guessing we're not alone, so we've created a tool to help you get the most out of the Winter Walkabout. It's a customizable Google Sheet of the entire schedule. While it's currently sorted by start time, you can sort it by venue or by artist to match how you like to festival. We hope it helps!
Here's a sample:

Finally, we'd be remiss if we didn't point out that the Winter Walkabout is an absolute bargain! Right now, an all-day ticket will set you back just $38.30, including fees. That's less than a dollar per band! The week of February 1st, that price goes up to $43.62, topping out at $48.95 on the day of the festival, which is still fair in these days of insane ticket prices. Be warned, however, that this festival tends to sell out, so it's a bad idea to wait until the last minute, even if you can afford the price hike. Get your tickets now and make a day of it in downtown Longmont!
And if this gets you jonesing for more festival action here in Longmont, check out June's LunaFest '26, which includes metal, punk, and many more genres of music from Longmont and elsewhere. We'll have more to say about that event closer to the date but click the link now to find out more and get your tickets early for that festival as well.
P.S. If you're not following us on Instagram, you might not have heard that we've changed our name. We want to avoid confusion with another awesome organization called Longmont Out Loud, so we've rebranded. We'll keep doing what we're doing but now as Front Row LoCo! Also, if you're not following us on Instagram, what are you even doing?
